Promoting inclusive growth through women entrepreneurship: An Indian perspective
Authors
Dr. Gunjan
Abstract
Women entrepreneurship has emerged as a significant driver of inclusive and sustainable economic growth in India. As women increasingly participate in entrepreneurial activities, they contribute not only to employment generation and income creation but also to social transformation, poverty reduction, and gender equality. Inclusive growth emphasizes equitable access to economic opportunities and ensures that the benefits of development reach all sections of society. In recent years, initiatives such as Startup India, Stand-Up India, Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojana, Skill India, and Digital India have created a supportive ecosystem for aspiring women entrepreneurs. Despite these developments, women continue to face challenges related to financial accessibility, limited market exposure, inadequate business training, socio-cultural barriers, and work-life balance. This paper examines the role of women entrepreneurship in promoting inclusive growth in India by analysing its economic and social contributions, major challenges, policy initiatives, and future prospects. The study is based on secondary data collected from government reports, research publications, journals, and institutional documents. The paper concludes that strengthening women entrepreneurship through improved policy implementation, skill enhancement, financial inclusion, and digital empowerment can significantly accelerate India's journey towards inclusive and sustainable development.
